Fallen is the first book in a series by Lauren Kate. Everyone is going on and on about how it's really amazing. But, I have to say, I didn't like it. I don't know why this is, maybe because I couldn't get into it, or because I couldn't be bothered to read it at the time, I don't know. I just didn't like it.
Luce Price, the main character, is very annoying. She comes across as stupid, yet apparently she's super smart, according to her grades. She stalks people, and is in a reform school.
This reform school, is very laid back. There is very little security, and though I've never been to one, or know much about them, I would have thought there would be a lot more security. I mean, the kids have to have been put there for a reason, because they're a danger to themselves and/or the people around them, so why is there very little security? I don't know...

After all I've said though, I am going to be reading the next book in the series. Not much happened in the first 400 pages of the 452 pages in the book, but in the last 52, there was actually a little bit of actual plot, and it sort of interested me. I just hope that the second one, Torment, will be a lot better, and that I won't be disappointed, like I was with Fallen.

I agree with you about Luce. She just wasn't convincing, and although the lovey-dovey stuff had an explanation that defied logic (ie, why she got obsessed with a boy who showed contempt towards her = because they were "destined to be together") it just didn't work. Grrr.
