Book Review: Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink

Prophecy of the Sisters (Prophecy of the Sisters, #1)Title: Prophecy of the Sisters
Author: Michelle Zink
Series: Prophecy of the Sisters #1
Pages: 343
Date of UK Publications: August 1st 2009

Synopsis from Goodreads: An ancient prophecy divides two sisters-

One good...

One evil...

Who will prevail?

Twin sisters Lia and Alice Milthorpe have just become orphans. They have also become enemies. As they discover their roles in a prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other, the girls find themselves entangled in a mystery that involves a tattoo-like mark, their parents' deaths, a boy, a book, and a lifetime of secrets.

Lia and Alice don't know whom they can trust.

They just know they can't trust each other.

My Thoughts:
I've been wanting to read this for a while, but never got around to buying it. I'd heard mixed things about it, and I came to to the conclusion that it's a marmite novel. You either love it, or you hate it. Luckily, I loved it :D

The characters in The Prophecy of the Sisters are real and believable. Twin sisters Lia and Alice live in the Victorian era, and they really seem like people you would find if you travelled back in time. Their interactions with each other really showed their sisterly love, especially when, even though they were on opposite sides of the Prophecy, they still shared their love, and made sure the other was as okay as they could be. It was so sweet.

And then of course, their little brother Henry was the cutest! Aww, he's ten, and he's in a wheelchair, and all I wanted to do was give him a big hug.

The plot was well thought out and well paced. It moved very fast in some places, but in others, not much of interest really happened at all, though I still raced through these parts, to see what was going to happen next! There were a lot of twists, and I very rarely saw them coming, though I think I did see one of them... I was very proud of myself ;)

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I would definitely recommend it, especially to fans of YA historical fiction with a supernatural twist. One thing I will say though, it's quite depressing, and sad... So don't read it if you want a light fun read, because it definitely is not one of those. But don't let that put you off, it's really good, I think you'd enjoy it. :)

My Rating:
I give it 4 Feet!

Comments

  1. I did not like this book at all, actually I didn't even finish it. Granted I was listening to the audio book and the narrator SUCKED so it might be due to that, and possibly that I wasn't in the mood for it. I may try again. Thanks for the review.

  2. I bought this book AWHILE ago but I still have not gotten around to reading it. I think I'll have to keep that in mind for as one of the ones I may read sooner than later.
